Ocean Drive

My dream house
When I saw this house (the adapted version with black stained stairs, doors, and sliding panels), I fell in love with it.

I love its open plan, so you can easily move furniture around and change the lay out of the room without hitting on an internal wall, the large size balcony, the roof terrace...

I am still building it (just glued the swimming pool box together), so cannot comment on that yet. The parts do slot together easily, and the construction of the house is simple, so you won't have to do fiddly things with small parts that keep dropping off or out when you try to put everything together.

When I was sanding the doors, one of them started to fall apart, and the paint is flaking off a bit, as it is on some of the balcony columns.

I would not say the construction itself is flimsy, but if you are unlucky, you may find some faulty items. So please check your Ocean Drive well when it arrives.

The rooms are nice and big (though still a bit on the small side for all the furniture I splashed out on), but I find that the internal stairs take up a lot of space, so I am going to move them out of the building into a separate staircase.

For all those of you who find Ocean Drive does not have enough rooms: why not buy two? I did, as it was on offer, and I am going to place them back to back , with the swimming pool unit on one of the roofs. This way the house will take up just as much space as one Ocean Drive with a swimming pool unit, and you will have twice as much house.

My Ocean Drive will be a house that combines a work space with a home, so it is a nice bonus that there will be two separate entrances.

I am going to have so much fun with this house!! Used for 1-3 months

Wonderful Dolls House
What a little gem! Great holiday home for Polly Pockets. Much bigger than I expected, just love the balcony next to the bedroom. Very nice finish and quite easy for my Mum to assemble. Delivery was very quick, my Mum was amazed at the service. This is my favourite web site! Used for less than a month

Ocean Drive for Kids
My daughter (5) bought this with her birthday money and is absolutely delighted with it. We haven't fully constructed it yet but it is still sturdy and it means she can design her own wallpaper at a pace I can keep up with. She and her sister play with it daily and have many role play games that they like to play. The garden is a must to go with the house as it also provides a cubby hole for dolls to hide in. This is far better quality than I could find elsewhere and the fact that it is modern really appealed to my daughter. I am confident that the house will grow with her and her tastes in furniture and fittings will also develop over the years. Used for 1-3 months

I purchased the funky furniture when it was on offer and it was a great purchase is not just for kids it has great value as an adult collecters pieces, they can give a house a fab modern look with a little extra spray paint and some addtional fabric the bed set makes a super trendy bedroom fit for any modern house, and the chairs from the dining set are equal to any designer pieces found elswhere, my advise is to look past the complete set and break it down to individual pieces, eg the chairs from the dining set and the rug from the bedroom set make a most modern dining set , i teamed mine with a small tumbler for an ultra modern base and hey presto a designer dining experience for a small price. years of blue peter and sticky back plastic have not been wasted lol. Used for 1-2 years

This house hasn't been built yet,but I know it's going to be stunning,especially with all the new art deco items we are promised in the new catalogue. Used for less than a month

another great dhe buy
Although listed originally as a childrens house i saw the re-vamped version in the July offers and was totally smitten!! As with all DHE houses it was a dream to build, took no time at all. I am converting it into a collectors house and its doesn't really need much work doing to do this so would be a great buy for kids or grown up, and would easily grow with a young lady. The rooms are a great size and lend themselves brilliantly to the open plan modern style i have in mind. The perspex comes out of the doors really easily so makes life easier for painting and taking the covering off. LOVE IT!! Used for less than a month

Ocean Drive is Gorgeous
I am so happy with this product. It is very stylish and easy to put together. I disagree that it is flimsy because I have found mine to be very solid. It's so nice to find a modern dollshouse in contemporary design. The only citicism I would have is that the brown protective paper on the perspex was very difficult to remove and I then had to clean all the panels with white spirit but this was not a major issue. Used for less than a month

Great for Adults
I bought this house for myself to display my tiny dolls in - the perspex front is ideal as you can see the inside all the time but it keeps the dust out. I found one of the stairs had broken but the DHE replaced it immediately. I do feel it's not robust enough for small children, but a great house for older collectors of modern miniatures. Overall happy to recommend it Used for 6-12 months

Disapointed....
If you are going to buy this house I would suggest that you buy it ready built as I had a terrible time making this one!
First of all there was damaged parts but as I got this house at a knock down price I thought I would make do and try to fix it....I managed this apart from one of the sliding doors which was unrepairable, so it is not able to slide without dropping off eventually.I think it is a bit flimsy to say it is meant for kids to play with. I like the look of it and just wish it was more robust and better designed. Also I had trouble removing the film on the perspex for the windows and balcony.......sorry DHE but I am only being honest. I would only recommend it to anybody ready built. Used for less than a month
