Copper Tape Method
Requires soldering and gives a smooth professional finish.
You require:
Most easily installed if you have wall lights on the back wall of the room, or ceiling lights where you run the copper tape underneath the carpet of the
room above.
Socket Strip Method
Requires no soldering and gives you the freedom to decide which lights you have on or off at any time.
You require:
The wires are not flat and so need a channel. QuickStyle and Fully-Finished houses already have the channels prepared for you (If you don't want to install lights, just paper over the channels). No soldering required.
Plan which lights are going into each room
Make a small hole to pass the wire from the light through the back of the house
Mark out the layout for the two parallel strips of copper tape on the back of the house
Remove plug from the wire attached to the light: pass wire through the small hole
The wires from the light pass through the back panel to connect to the copper tape
Reconnect the plug
5. Connect the transformer to the circuit on the back of the house and bingo!
5. Plug directly into the socket strip
6. Connect the socket strip to the transformer and bingo!
Save by buying a lighting set when you buy your dolls' house.
The lights included in the lighting set are usually those shown in the photograph of the open house, however for a complete and up-to-date list please visit our lighting sets page.
Transformers and full, illustrated instructions are included in the lighting set.
Lighting sets for additional properties and basements usually only include the lights as there will be enough wiring and transformer capacity with the house lighting set to accomodate the additional bulbs. You may wish to purchase the 7235 Transformer Connection Cable to easily connect your additional property.
Transformers
The 12v transformers have a circuit-breaker, so if you exceed the recommended number of light bulbs indicated in the description of the transformer, it is designed to safely cut out.
Please note that it is the total number of bulbs in the light fittings which you need to count to determine the size of the transformer required.
